Inky Librarian's Shop

For the past 20 years I have worked as a School Librarian. I love creating resources that will help 'hook' children/young adults into both reading and research. From the age of eleven, since starting as a Student Librarian in my secondary school, I have been passionate about libraries. The resources that I've created are aimed to create that 'hook'. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Are you stuck on what books to recommend year 7 students? I have devised a booklet that I distribute to new year 7 students during the September intake. I hope they enjoy these titles! It’s free, but please leave a review if it has been helpful.

Banned Books Lessons

Three lessons that I created to celebrate our right to read banned books. This was to coincide with Banned Books Week, but can be delivered anytime of the year. The aim of these lessons are for students to gain an understanding of how books have been challenged within the United Kingdom and USA, past and present. It focuses on Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890s), Section 28 (1980s) and current times. I have ‘tried and tested’ these lessons with year 7 and 8 students; they all enjoyed the lessons. But I feel older students may enjoy them also! They are very interactive that will provoke a lot of discussion, I think your students may enjoy them! These lessons can be delivered together OR as a standalone. Update: I have included the answers to questions in the slide notes.
